1970 BOSS 302 MUSTANG

The Boss 302 was a serious muscle car featuring the high-rev Boss 302 V8 engine, which was underrated at 290 horsepower to match its Camaro archrival. Made for Trans-Am racing excitement, the Boss 302 was good for a zero-to-60-mph sprint in well under seven seconds, and it regularly clocked a sub-15-second quarter-mile. As one poll reader described its high-rev eagerness, “Once the car hooks up and the revs climb above 3500, you better hang on for dear life.”

1974 DODGE CHALLENGER

The Hemi lasted through 1971, by which time toughening emissions laws and rising insurance rates were killing off every American automaker’s high-compression performance engines. Fast Dodges were available for a few more years, but when the Challenger was put to rest in 1974, Dodge performance went into a slumber that wouldn’t be lifted until 1992. That’s when the Viper signaled a reawakening of Dodge’s muscle car spirit, a reawakening that would lead eventually to the resurrection of the Challenger itself.

Magic Mushroom: Private Retro & Rustic Mountain Lodge

From the outside this wooden cabin-in-the-forest is interesting to be sure, but nothing extraordinary. It is easy to see once inside, however, how this unusual wood-and-stone vacation home came to be known as the Magic Mushroom House. The decor is certainly a trip, the looming masonry fireplace is shaped like a gigantic fungus and the original structure itself dates back to the swinging seventies.

Eclectic to the extreme, the house sports fixtures from various stylistic eras infused with a distinctly dated set of interior decoration strategies – including a built-in water-bed as well as a smattering of free-love (read: s***al) imagery. A central gathering area (dubbed the ‘love pit’) comes complete with shag carpet and seating around the central chimney stack and itself surrounded by a series of railing-free balconies (nicknamed ‘go-go platforms’).

Sitting somewhere on the border of comfy and kitschy, the home is constructed of a combination of curved wooden beams and rough-cut stone structural supports. First constructed and lived in by architect Andre Ulrych, the house recently passed to new owners who converted the retreat into their own part-time private vacation property.

Originally thought by the real estate agent representing the property to be a tear-down home, the new owners fell in love with the offbeat nature of the design, the naturalistic local materials used in its construction and the curious mix of styles built into it from the inside out.

Custom 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 and V-6 go on the road with the DUB tour

“The Mustang is such an iconic muscle car and has always been a customizer’s favorite,” said Myles Kovacs, co-founder and president of DUB Magazine. “The DUB Edition Mustang stays true to its roots, but I think we’ve successfully brought a ton of hustle to the muscle.”

Mirror-finished Bugatti Veyron

To mark the opening of the new Autostadt pavilion in the ‘Premium Clubhouse’ section of the popular Volkswagen Group theme park, the company unveiled a new mirror-finish Bugatti Veyron that sits in a room full of mirrors. The Premium Clubhouse is a display of architecture, art, and design, and was created as a wing in the 25-hectare park to represent VW Group's multi-brand luxury and premium division.
The highlight of the Premium Clubhouse is the new mirror-finish Veyron, which is actually a piece of artwork created by Olaf Nicolai. Working site-specifically, Nicolai creates mental spaces in which he explores aesthetic perceptions.

With the Veyron, Nicolai has attempted to showcase the technical intricacies of the supercar by using its flat planes to allow the observer to see themself reflected back ad infinitum from the mirrors. “A phenomenon of endless play-back in which both the boundaries of the space and the boundary between object and observer are blurred,” he explained.

The Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany, is described by VW as a theme park that invites its visitors to explore the world of mobility. Last year alone it attracted almost two million guests.

F1 Batmobile Tumbler Concept: The Joker Won’t Get Away

Over the years, the Batmobile has shown up in all kinds of crazy designs. It’s amazing how geeks change things around and create all kinds of cool versions of the classic Bat car. And now it has been converted into an Formula One race car by Knightvision3D. I can only imagine how awesome the Joker’s car would look if he had an F1 racer too.

It is pretty impressive and was made in 3DS Max 2013. It’s a combination of F1 design, Tumbler technology and powered by jet turbines. They even added hydraulic flaps and allowed the air collected above the cockpit to be funneled around the turbine exhaust and out under the rear diffuser. Who cares that it defies good aerodynamics?

Man, if I had Bruce Wayne’s money I would so build one of these.

Ford Atlas Named Autoweek's Most Significant Detroit Auto Show Debut

Mad Max's Ford Falcon Coupe Pursuit Special Replica

Many things have changed over the 33 years that passed since George Miller's classic dystopian action flick Mad Max hit the big screen, but the blacked out Pursuit Special that served as Max Rockatansky's (played by Mel Gibson) police car remains as cool as ever.
The original Pursuit Special was a 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT, one of the most popular sports coupes in Australia at the time. A team led by Murray Smith modified the Aussie coupe into the beast that starred in the movie. The Mad Max Clone was built from scratch in 2010. Like the original model, it too is based on a 1973 Ford Flacon XB Coupe but features some modern amenities like the LED lights and an infotainment system.

2015 SRT Barracuda to Replace outgoing Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger is common in the local US market. It lives in the same name and glory of many other muscle cars. Chrysler and Fiat have now decided to reincarnate the Barracuda in 2015 as a replacement of the current Challenger range. Reports say that it will join the SRT range. It will be much smaller than its predecessor.
The current Challenger is based on Chrysler’s LX platform, which is derived from the W210 E-class Mercedes (1996-2002) with much of its components first appearing in the 1982 W201 (190E) era. The Barracuda is expected to be more than eight inches shorter than the Challenger and will have a wheelbase reduced by six inches, just like the Ford Mustang. It will shed off 160kg over the current Challenger.

The Barracuda will likely get three engine options; a 2.4 liter inline-four force-fed Tigershark, a direct-injected version of the Pentastar V6 3.6 liter and a direct-injected HEMI V8 topped with some extra power. The multi-link layout for the suspension may be retained, but with a different geometry.

The main quesion is if the Barracuda will return strong enough to beat the Mustang like it did back in the 60′s and if it is able to compete with the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang.

BMW M8 Supercar Coming in 2016

BMW will likely add a new model to its M-Divison by 2016. The much anticipated M8 will be a 600hp supercar built to coincide with their 100th Anniversary if it debuts in 2016. The reports come direct from M-Division boss Friedrich Nitschke who has alluded to a few cruicial details. Expect the M8 to share the same carbon fiber and aluminum components as the i8 plug-in hybrid which is due to land in 2014. The M8 will be a spiritual successor to the classic BMW M1.
Despite sharing many of its components, the powerplant fitted to the BMW M8 will be completely different from that of the i8. The i8 is expected to feature a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder set up aided by an electric motor mounted at the front axle. The i8 should produce a combined output of 349bhp and 405lb ft of torque, whereas the M8 is expected to get a 600bhp twin turbo V8 motor. Speculated performance figures suggest a 0-60mph time of just 3 seconds and a top speed of 200mph.

This latest report follows an earlier story we published back in 2010 suggesting that BMW was planning an ‘extreme super sports car’ with hybrid drive and 600hp with a hybrid combination consisting of a V10 engine from the current M5 and two electric engines. We’re told that while the technical basis for this car is ready, the developers are waiting for the green light from management to bring it to production. The new supercar was expected to be revealed by the spring of 2013.

2012 Ford Mustang GT Custom SPX/Galpin Widebody

SPX Commissioned this "one-of-a-kind" Ford Mustang created in collaboration with Ford Racing and the amazing craftsmen at Galpin Auto Sports which was auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson's 2012 Scottsdale auction with all proceeds donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Founded in 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, St. Jude Children's research Hospital treats children with cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. SPX is a Charlotte-based, Fortune 500 multi-industry manufacturer with operations in more than 35 countries. SPX's highly engineered solutions support three critical needs around the world: electricity, processed foods and beverages, and vehicle service.

SPX has a history of supporting St. Jude with the help of Barrett-Jackson. As Chris Kearney, Chairman, President and CEO of SPX shares, "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is an excellent organization that does amazing work. Over the past two years, we've worked with Barrett-Jackson to raise more than $450,000 toward St. Jude's fundraising efforts, and we look forward to adding to that sum with this year's auction." "The 1969 Ford BOSS 429 Mustang inspired this year's effort," notes Dave Kowalski, Vice President of SPX. "SPX wanted to blend modern technology and capture the stealthy essence of 60's muscle cars," he adds.

It seems both 5.0 Mustang Magazine and Rides Magazine agree SPX achieved their goals as each magazine featured the SPX/St. Jude Mustang on their covers. Renowned Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) of California developed the Mustang to "perform as well as it looks," said Ted Mengiste, director at GAS. Galpin widened the Mustang body nine inches, using all hand-rolled metal fabrication. As Ted points out, "We gave it a blown 5.0L Ford Engine with a competition cam, producing over 700 hp, coupled to a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission and other bits and pieces from Ford Racing."

Wilwood brakes and rotors were installed for braking. While the 22X14 and 22X11 Forgiato three-piece custom wheels with Pirelli Tires help transmit over 630 ft lbs of torque "to the ground." Its black interior is accented in red suede with headrests that give tribute to St. Jude. Sunpro, a product of SPX, provided gauges. The Mustang audio system is upgraded with massive JLT speakers and amps, while maintaining the original stock head unit. The exterior is painted in a unique PPG red, reminiscent of the 60's candy apple red paint jobs. Performance lowering spring, Bassani exhaust, BOSS Laguna Seca pedestal spoiler, and the 1969 BOSS 429 hood scoop round out this highly customized muscle car. The car was sold on January 20, 2012.
